SUPPORT SPECIALTIES

Aging Support

Aging brings emotional, cognitive, and social changes. Our therapists are experienced in supporting older adults and their caregivers as they navigate the challenges of aging, including retirement, changing roles, chronic illness, memory concerns, loneliness, and end-of-life reflection with dignity, purpose, and connection.

Grief and Loss Counseling

Whether you or your family is grieving the loss of a loved one, a companion or a service animal, a relationship, or a chapter of your life, our therapists provide a space for your sorrow to be seen, held, and gently supported while guiding the process and helping you cope with disenfranchised grief and the pain of loss.

Neurodiversity

We embrace and celebrate neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD, autism, and other cognitive variations, and tailor our approach to honor their communication style, sensory needs, and identity. We aim to help reduce distress and provide access to tools for self-advocacy, building confidence, and promoting overall well-being.

Trauma-Informed

We provide trauma-informed care for adults navigating the impact of past experiences. Our compassionate approach helps clients process safely, build resilience, and regain a sense of control, often with the support of animal-assisted therapy, which creates a calming and trusting environment for healing and recovery.

Life Changes & Transitions

Whether you're facing a new job, a relationship change (such as marriage, divorce, parenthood, etc.), a move, retirement, or an identity shift, we offer a space to process and adapt. Our therapists support clients through uncertainty with empathy and practical tools for navigating significant change.

Anxiety

Anxiety can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. We help clients of all ages understand the roots of anxiety and other related conditions, develop coping strategies, and restore a sense of calm and confidence. Animal-assisted and nature-based therapies can further ease nervous system stress during sessions.

Populations Not Served

To ensure we provide the highest quality of care within our expertise, we do not serve as primary providers for the following issues:

  • Eating disorders

  • Alcohol & substance use disorder

  • Addiction

  • Violent offenders

  • Sex offenders

We refer clients with primary concerns outside our specialization areas to providers equipped to offer the appropriate care.

Community-Based

Healing doesn’t always happen in an office—and at Good Talk Counseling, it doesn’t have to. We provide community-based mental health services across Longmont and surrounding areas, meeting clients in settings that feel safe, familiar, and empowering. These sessions may take place in a park, at a community center, during a walk-and-talk in a local neighborhood, or in another mutually agreed-upon location. Community-based counseling is especially helpful for clients who thrive in real-world environments, benefit from movement, or are working on skills like emotional regulation and social engagement outside traditional therapy spaces.
